It was, in many ways, the history of the women of my family. Knowing that history meant the world to me, and became the basis of my understanding of who I was. It didn’t matter how big or expensive the jewelry was. What mattered was the significance of where it came from, and the journey it had taken to reach me. My journey began in the buying offices where I learned the business aspects of retail. I spent three years learning to thrive in a corporate setting, creating the foundations of a love for business while immersing myself in the retail fashion industry. Stemming out later into the world of sales, I learned the importance of relationship building, goal setting, and the persistence needed to achieve those goals. But it wasn’t until I had a year off from work to spend time with family members who had fallen ill that I was really able to tap into my creative passion…handmade jewelry. From one day to the next I began creating unique pieces of beaded jewelry. First for myself, then for friends and family. Before I knew it I was taking orders and experiencing the beginning of what I felt would be my future: Beaded bracelets and custom jewelry that expressed not only who I was, but where I had come from, and personalized jewelry designed for those I love and care about. It wasn’t until two years later, when out of a profound loss, the inspiration to create my vision truly began to take shape. It was the vision I’ve always thought, dreamt, and believed in. The difference was that I had no fear. Welcome to Beading with a Meaning... |
